A chance to continue my non-digital photography adventure in Birmingham with a roll of Ilford XP2 400, which Jessops said they could process in an hour. Results not too bad- I have a little more faith in the automatic metering of the ME Super now.
This shot in Brindley Place, near Symphony Hall and the Sea Life centre.A couple of weeks ago, I paid a visit to the Heritage Motor Museum and to Chesterton Windmill to test a new digital camera, the Canon S95. However I decided also to take along my old film SLR, a Pentax ME Super, which has been languishing in a drawer for goodness knows how many years! I got some film, a roll of Fuji Velvia 50, and was simply curious to see if the camera still worked. I did feel that the auto exposure wasn't quite right, at least compared to the digital readings, so I rather erred on the side of underexposing slightly.
I collected the CD with the images this afternoon. Rather disappointed to see they were scanned at only 2.1 megapixels, but the Velvia colours seem to have come through, particularly at Chesterton. Some of the vintage vehicles on display at Gaydon seemed to have rather strange colours- an interesting effect, all of them, but not exactly always realistic!
Another shot from Broadway, Worcestershire, on Tuesday. Somewhere in a box, I have some of my grandfather's transparencies from the 1950s and 1960s, mainly on Kodak slides, and I do remember a lot of shots taken in the Cotswolds. The treatment here is intended to give a very slightly bygone feel to the place.
Broadway, Worcestershire- I didn't intend to venture quite so far on my half day, but it proved to be a lovely afternoon for a drive in the countryside, and what better than the Cotswolds...
Cricket Scoreboard- from this evening's photography activity. After a band of heavy rain passed through during the afternoon, there were some great skies and light to enjoy for the photography activity in early evening.
